Flu Shot Are Available Now Please Get ASAP
You must use the afterhours clinic instead of going to a walkin clinic for continuity and standard of care. The doctors at the afterhours clinic will can access your medical records and communicate back to your personal physician in a seamless way. So please use the afterhours (unless it is an emergency that you have to go to hospital) and do not go to a walkin for the sake of convenience. In addition, under the Family Health Organization agreement with the Ministry of Health, your doctor will be 'penalized' by OHIP if you go to a walkin clinic.
Everyday, even on the weekends, a dedicated doctor will see patients at the designated afterhours clinic for a 3 hours block of time. You may show up in person (at least 30 min prior to closing) but it is recommended to call ahead of time. Telephone afterhour appointments are allowed but should only be used if there is no other option.
PLEASE NOTE AFTER-HOURS CLINIC IS ONLY FOR URGENT MEDICAL PROBLEMS, AND NOT FOR REGULAR CONSULTATIONS THAT CAN WAIT FOR YOUR OWN FAMILY PHYSICIAN. IT IS NOT TO BE USED FOR FILLING MEDICAL FORMS, AND NARCOTICS WILL NOT BE PRESCRIBED.
Call 811 to speak directly to a nurse about your urgent medical concern. This is a free 24/7 service for all Ontarians provided by the Ministry of Health. Please use this service when doctors are not available (for example, after 8 PM to when office reopens in the morning). A record of the medical encounter will be sent back to your personal physician for continuity of care.
